[news] We support Park Jaebeom

And I’ll tell you why. It’s not cause he’s a Korean idol, or a Korean popstar, it’s simply because he’s a simple Korean American from Seattle and as a Korean American myself, I’m all up for standing up for what I think is right and this whole situation is just to ridiculous to let it slide. Though I can’t relate to Jay when it comes to being a trainee in Korea, I can relate as someone who has been thrown into a situation where you’re surrounded by people that look like you but are nothing like you.

The cultural barrier between native Koreans and Korean Americans unfortunately still exists and though we are proud of our Korean heritage, we’re also proud we are American. Jae’s comments on his myspace were completely blown out of proportion and as someone who understands the way he felt, I say, what the hell is the big deal? It’s understandable that many Koreans feel betrayed and disappointed by their favorite idol’s words and that’s fine to feel this way but to create a petition to send him back to his homeland is just completely and utterly outrageous.

I’m not putting this petition up on Seoulbeats because I’m a 2PM fan. I’m putting this petition up to stand up for Korean Americans and to show Koreans that we are not, as one netizen put it, “garbage” because we are neither “Korean or American.” Jay has stated his apology and what he feels now towards his Korean fans and Korea, so if this petition is going to speed up the forgiving process, then I say let’s do it.
This just became more than a petition to support Jay; in many ways, it just became a petition for all Korean Americans, no?

This is really getting out of hand...

I totally know and understand the way this guy and the author of this article feels. So many times Korea-born Koreans look down on Korean-Americans or Korean-Canadians or basically any Korean not born in Korea. I find this really stupid and rude. We're the same Koreans but the Koreans in Korea just treat us differently. Of course this doesn't apply to all Koreans.

I'm not a crazy fan of 2PM or anything, but I think this is just really immature and just plain stupid. Do Korean netizens really have nothing better to do?

this is heartbreaking, im not exaggerating when i say i cried after reading his sorry statement. he shouldnt have to apologize for something he said in a lonely state of mind FOUR YEARS ago. and i completely agree with u: that im not saying this becuz im a 2pm fan and im not even Korean but i KNOW what a cultural barrier is since i grew up in America but when i go back to my homeland i feel the difference. its not that we dont wanna keep our heritage its just like the author said; we hav to balance b/w the two and i really hope and wish that korean fans come to realize the situation Jay was thrown into at that time. I hope this doesn't get too out of hand.

this is d'most ridiculous news i've ever heard so far..
why are they being too sensitive..i think jay would never meant 2 hurt anybody feeling..it just happen 2 b.. relax korean, take a chill pill..
giving forgiveness is so much better than throw up ur anger..take this as chance 2 show your cool side...this is not d'right time 2 fight 4 nonsence..dont waste ur energy..u better gather them n support DBSK in their lawsuit case, that would b a million times better~

  11. d'petals says:

actually...i dont even know who is this PARK JAEBUM, but it is ridiculous 2 make a petition 2 send him back 2 his homeland.. korean should support this korean american/canadian..they're trying 2 get 2 know their heritage but, u show them this kinda attitude...people might give a wrong idea of what korean people are...think bout' it dude...loyal is good but they are korean 2, so u korean should support them(korean american) too... maybe my words are too harsh, n i'm sorry 4 this..(hope we can live happily n we all can always support korean talents...(^_^)

I dont really know what happpened but the person who came across his comments from like YEARS ago clearly had no life and MOST probably out to ruin Jay's life (jealousy??). We aren't perfect and considering his situation, i agree that they should give him a break. PEOPLE CHANGE and he probably thinks differently now [after living in korea for years] as compared to when he was a trainee. But, then again, this is just my opinion. :)

Well, I think your post says everything Jay's fans abroad feel and think about this whole situation. Totally agree with what you said about being surrounded by people who look like you but they are nothing like you in person.

People have said a lot of things about people make mistakes and we all deserve a second chance so I'm not going to repeat. I'm very sorry for what happened to Jay and wish him the best. I'm still hoping that he'll come back. One more thing, if it's difficult for us to see him leaving, 2PM guys would have faced a lot more severe pain. So, also wish everyone is 2PM will do well, with or without Jay. But I personally don't think that I can watch them anymore, not bc I don't like them, but bc I can't face the fact that Jay is not there anymore.
