[news] FT Island Becomes Ambassadors For Gangwon-Do Province

FT Island becomes ambassadors for Gangwon-Do Province.

Lee Hongki and Song Seunghyun, members of FT Island who gained lots of popularity in Korea and Japan, were at Gangwon-Do recently for a photoshoot to promote the province to Japanese tourists.

The two members introduced Gangwon-Do by experiencing the place themselves. They went to Kyungpo Beach, Chamsori Museum, rode on rail bikes as well as the beach train at Jungdong-jin, East Sea. The series of photoshoot by famous Japanese photographer, Shimokoshi Haruki, portrays the beauty and charm of Gangwon-Do.

Lee Hongki said that, “Having the duty of promoting Korea overseas, we hope that many tourists will come and visit Gangwon-Do.”

Gangwon-Do’s official homepage featuring “FT Island Treasure Hunt Tour, Go! Go! Gangwon-Do” will open on 19th October.

This is a joint project by KNTO, Gangwon-Do and Gangwon-Do Tourism Association.

[news] Behind the scenes with You’re Beautiful’s cast

SBS’s You’re Beautiful showed off its Ilsan, Kyunggi-do, filming location on the afternoon of October 13 for an open set day. The cast showed some behind-the-scenes activities (and new hairstyles!) and gave interviews with the media, who were on hand to watch some new scenes being shot.

If you’ve been watching the drama (or just following along with the developments), you’ll know that A.N.JELL is the drama’s fictional idol group, led by Jang Geun-seok and also consisting of Park Shin-hye, Lee Hong-ki, and Jung Yong-hwa. In these scenes, A.N.JELL appears on a television variety program (as so many of kpop’s real idols do) and participate in some silly games.

Jang Geun-seok explained, “As the eldest, I feel a big sense of responsibility.” Naturally, the cast and crew are aware of potential competition coming from new rival drama IRIS, which is to premiere tomorrow. Jang said, “I’m not really worried about the competition, but I do make an effort to keep the atmosphere on set pleasant.” He therefore cracks a lot of jokes to maintain an upbeat mood. He also said, “Since Iris is a different genre, I think it has different strengths and weaknesses. It’s true that I’m a little nervous, but I’m not fixating on Iris.” He joked that he would watch You’re Beautiful during its first run, and catch Iris in reruns.

Q: What is the plot of today’s shoot?

Jang Geun-seok: “It’s the old debut performance for A.N.JELL. Mi-nam takes a look at old A.N.JELL material and says, ‘Tae-kyung hyung is the most handsome,’ and when Tae-kyung hears that, that leads to him changing his hairstyle. I don’t know if that’s to show the beginning of falling in love, or if it’s because the writers didn’t like his current hairstyle. [Laughs]”

How do you feel about Episodes 1 and 2, which aired last week?

Park Shin-hye: “I felt very good that there were many positive responses. You’re Beautiful is in a newish style, so as I expected, there were responses that it didn’t quite work as well as those that thought it was fun. But as Episode 2 aired, I think many people were more receptive. At first, there were comments that I was too feminine for a girl dressing as a boy, but the way I see it, in MBC’s Coffee Prince and SBS’s Painter of the Wind, the female characters played by Yoon Eun-hye and Moon Geun-young had laid-back, easygoing personalities even when they were playing women. However, Mi-nyeo is originally very girlish so if she were to become too boyish when dressing as a male, her character would disappear. I consulted with the director and the writers, and we decided to keep Mi-nyeo’s personality as it was.”

Mi-nyeo has an interesting, particular way of talking. It could come off awkward, but it’s very unique and the more you watch, the more it suits her. How did that come about?

Park Shin-hye: “Usually when women copy men’s way of speaking, they say things like, ‘Uh, yeah, so?’ while Mi-nyo’s way of speaking is to say, ‘That is so. Yes, I do believe so.’ It’s unique and I wanted to give it a refreshing feel. It’s like when I talked on the phone with my brother when he came out on leave from army service and he spoke differently, ending sentences with ‘–subnikka?’ and ‘–subnida’ [honorific suffix]. I spoke with the writers about that and they wrote it in, which I think is working well. At first, there were some people who were opposed and said not to write weird dialogue, but I think it’s catching on. It’s even a trend on set for the crew members to talk to each other like my character, saying, ‘Is that so? I do not know of that!’ [그랬습니까? 저는 그런 거 모릅니다]”

Lee Hong-ki: “My younger sister told me that Shin-hye’s way of talking is already very popular at her school. Also popular is Geun-seok hyung’s hairstyle, and the accessories that I wear in the drama. Today I went online to buy some clothes and there were searches for ‘Lee Hong-ki style’ that brought up accessories in the exact same design. [Laughs]”

It seems like Jang Geun-seok put a lot of thought into his style and appearance. In particular, his hairstyle with the extreme part.

Jang Geun-seok: “I’m still lacking in my acting even when I delve into the script and devote myself to it, so it’s beyond me to think of all those things. I trust in the stylist and experts for that. In the beginning, there were a lot of reactions to my hairstyle, but to be honest we lacked preparation before the broadcast began, so I needed something to trust in and go with for my character. People said, ‘Jang Geun-seok looks best like a “pretty boy,” so why isn’t he doing that now?’ but it’s not that I don’t know that. But I think that if I want my acting to be engaging, I need some sense of connection to the character even if it’s a bit awkward. In any case, the other three are very idol-like and stand out, so it’s okay.”

You’re the eldest of the group — how do you lead on set?

Jang Geun-seok: “I’ve always been the youngest. I learned a lot from watching [Kang] Ji-hwan hyung on Hong Gil Dong and [Kim] Myung-min hyung on Beethoven Virus. This is the first time I’m the oldest, and the most important thing is that the teamwork within A.N.JELL has to be good. Usually, even if I’m loosened up, when I get to the film set I think it’s important to bring tension, as the director requests of me. Not long ago, I said in an interview, ‘I learned a lot watching Ji-hwan hyung acting as a leader,’ and he sent me a text message after seeing that. ‘How funny — you listened to me the least!’ [Laughs]”

I hear you’ve been practicing your sneering smile and other expressions in the mirror. How does it feel to see yourself with those expressions?

Jang Geun-seok: “It’s fun to review my acting. Hwang Tae-kyung is very forward and swift, and on top of that he’s sensitive and a neat freak. But even so, there’s a small opening [leading to his inner self] — I want to show the part inside that, and I think that’s how people will see Tae-kyung, too. That’s why it’s a lot of fun seeing that sneer on my face or other expressions I don’t normally use. Starting this week, Tae-kyung shows a particular way of pursing his lips that I got from referencing Meryl Streep’s editor character in The Devil Wears Prada, which she uses whenever she’s displeased about something.”

From here on, how will you show Hwang Tae-kyung’s appeal as a character?

Jang Geun-seok: “His appeal is the opening despite the edge? [Laughs] He may be a perfectionist and a neat freak, but it’s important to make people realize in the end, ‘He’s human too.’ Actually, the drama is pretty tight — the script’s pace is quick like a manhwa and there’s a variety of shots. I have faith in the skills of the director and writers.

Jung Yong-hwa has already earned a good reaction and a nickname as ‘Towel Guy.’ Does your popularity seem real to you?

Jung Yong-hwa: “To be honest, I’m always at the filming location, so I can’t feel it that strongly. Sometimes when I have some time, I type in my name in the search engine and take a look. In Episodes 1 and 2, I filmed truly not knowing anything, so I’m thankful that people responded positively. Every scene is so difficult to act, but my sunbaes look after me a lot and explain things well.”

Park Shin-hye: “I’ve been bombarded with friends calling immediately after the broadcast finished, asking me about Yong-hwa. They ask who he is, say he’s good-looking, that he makes their hearts pound. So when I ask, ‘How did I come across?’ they all say that doesn’t matter! [Laughs]”

Who do you like better, the members of your group CN Blue or your A.N.JELL members?

Jung Yong-hwa: “They’re both in my heart. [Laughs] When I’m with A.N.JELL, I think of my [CN Blue] bandmates, and when I’m with them, I think of A.N.JELL.”

(Side note: Diplomatic answer to a stupid question!)

Shin-woo found out in Episode 2 that Mi-nam is a girl, so what happens now?

Jung Yong-hwa: “At first, Shin-woo was cold and only smiled out of greeting, but after finding out the truth that Mi-nam is a girl and why she cross-dressed, he looks after her. I try to come up with ways to express that, and work with Shin-hye to play off each other. In my opinion, Shin-woo has experienced a painful love once in his past. And so he deals with that pain and sometimes avoids people, but the more he sees Mi-nam, he feels that hurt easing. When Mi-nam is around, he feels brighter and really wants to cherish her.”

Jang Geun-seok: “Actually, he’s a character that women will like better than mine.”

On the other hand, Jeremy is more thickheaded than his teammates and still doesn’t know the truth about Mi-nam. How are you in real life?

Lee Hong-ki: “I’m a bit thickheaded in real life too. I don’t really know what’s going on. [Laughs] I’ll zone out alone even when I have to report to my manager hyungs later. But when it’s good news, I catch on quickly.”

You look a lot thinner now than at the beginning of the drama.

Lee Hong-ki: “At the time of the script reading, the director gave me the task to ‘build up my body quickly.’ Jeremy is a very bright, child-like character, but when he takes off his shirt he has to come across as a man, so I lost about 6 or 7 kg. The drama takes place in autumn and winter, but the director has Jeremy wearing tank tops, whether it’s at clubs or rehearsals. So the film set is like a gym to me. [Laughs]”

Park Shin-hye: “He really doesn’t rest and is always working out. The videos of him online are for real. I end up doing ab workouts with him too.”

Before debuting with FT Island, you were a child actor. How’s the reaction to you acting as an adult in You’re Beautiful?

Lee Hong-gi: “After the first episode aired, everyone cringed a bit. But the next day, they grew used to my character and responded well. The FT Island members usually point out each other’s flaws, but this time they gave me a lot of praise. The drama is very entertaining and they don’t cringe now; they say he’s like me. [Laughs]”

The last scene of Episode 1 was a lot of fun, when Mi-nam falls from the bench, the other members try to catch her, and she ends up colliding lips with Tae-kyung. What are some fun stories from filming?

Park Shin-hye: “My body was held up with wires, but I couldn’t keep my body stiff so they were all supporting me, and they raised such a fuss that their arms hurt.”

Lee Hong-ki: “There’s the scene where Shin-hye throws up and it gets on hyung’s mouth. Shooting that was so funny.”

Park Shin-hye: “It was a mixture of Yoplait and vegetable porridge… I had a hard time because the sound I made when gagging was so funny. But then, maybe Hong-ki sshi was thinking too lovingly of Geun-seok oppa, because he shoved me off his body while shouting, ‘Tae-kyung hyung!’ and used so much force that the other half of my body went flying. Even though I’m a girl. [Laughs]”

Lee Hong-ki: “Haha. It’s only because I was so focused on acting.”

Which of your three male teammates is closest to your ideal type?

Park Shin-hye: “All three look after me really well, but nobody is exactly my type. I just enjoy being stuck among such good-looking guys. If I had to choose among the characters, it would be Shin-woo. I think a lot of women would agree. But Tae-kyung is too… [Laughs] I don’t think I’d be able to take Tae-kyung’s prickliness.”

Lee Hong-ki: “Truthfully, Tae-kyung’s character is hard to put up with even among guys… [To Jang Geun-seok, looking from a distance] Not you hyung, your character! [Laughs]”

KBS’s IRIS begins airing this week, kicking off the real ratings battle. How are you preparing for that?

Park Shin-hye: “Both dramas are so different in genre and characters, so I can’t say much to the viewers about choosing, but our drama is about youthful ambition and energy. There are lots of bits with Mi-nam and Tae-kyung bickering back and forth, Shin-woo’s jealousy, Jeremy’s misunderstandings, and more. Like we said at the production press conference, we are an exuberant drama, and even if we’re trampled on, we get right back up. [Laughs] These days, when I happen to walk down the streets and see the faces of others, hardly anyone is smiling. In the past, whenever I watched the sitcoms of director Kim Byung-wook or the dramas of the Hong Sisters writers, when thinking of them later I would automatically smile. In a similar way, I’d like to make a drama where people will smile just to think, ‘Oh, You’re Beautiful is on today!’”

[news] FT Island Former Member, Oh Wonbin, Participates In “You’re Beautiful” OST

Oh Wonbin, former member of FT Island, will be participating in one of the tracks of “You’re Beautiful” OST, titled “Coming Down From The Sky“. It was said that Oh Wonbin volunteered to sing for the OST in support of his ex-fellow band mate, Lee Hongki.

There are many assumptions when this news was released. With earlier reasons saying that Oh Wonbin left the group due to disharmony between the members and him being singled out, his participation in the OST this time is creating lots of speculation.

Some netizens are making assumptions that, “Could it be that Oh Wonbin is returning to FT Island?” and “Is Oh Wonbin doing projects with FT Island or with the individual members?” Some also said that, if it is true that there is disharmony between the members, then it would be difficult for Oh Wonbin to participate in the OST to support Lee Hongki.

FT Island’s management company said that, “As what was already mentioned earlier, Oh Wonbin left the band due to differences in music. Though Oh Wonbin has already left the group, their friendship is still strong.”

Meanwhile, songs from “You’re Beautiful” OST will be revealed on MNet.com and other major online music sites on 14th. The physical album will also be released on the same day.

Song by Oh Wonbin and Miss $, titled “Coming Down From The Sky“, has a cheerful and bright melody with sweet lyrics.

The OST is also receiving lots of love with songs such as “Still” and “Promise” having both A.N.JELL and Lee Hongki’s versions. Park Shinhye’s solo is also included in the OST.

The third episode of “You’re Beautiful” will air tonight at 10pm.

[news] Lee Hongki, “FT Island Members Shriveled After Watching Drama”

Lee Hongki laughed as he revealed that, “FT Island members shriveled after watching the drama”.

At the filming set of SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful” on 13th afternoon, Lee Hongki said that, “I watched the first episode of the drama with our members. I was looking forward to it though feeling nervous at the same time. They read the script in advance so they’re anticipating it as well.”

He added that, “All of us shrivel while watching the drama together. Though I couldn’t watch the second episode together with them due to filming, they text me saying ‘It’s really interesting and we’ve gotten used to all the cheesy scenes (smiles)’.”

“Actually I don’t have an idol image at all. I’m more of a happy-go-lucky person. 70% of Jeremy’s character is like my usual self. Though Jeremy is an idol in the drama, he shows his cheerful and crazy sides very often as well. I’m also like that in reality. I don’t feel the burden even if I were to film a salivating scene.”

Lee Hongki plays the role of Jeremy, member of the nation’s most popular band “A.N.JELL“, who has a cheerful and bright character.

[news] Web drama SETI is a hit

Remember that “web toon drama” called SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)? The fantasy series by a manhwa writer released its first two episodes online this week, and the interest has been very high.

The series is comprised of short segments a little over a minute long that feature Seo Hyo-rim (Job Well Done) and SS501 member Kim Kyu-jong. SETI mixes live action with a “manhwa world,” which is achieved by mixing live photography with enhanced illustrations in the background. In the first three days of its release, the first installment drew in more than 600,000 views, with word of mouth reportedly traveling fast.

Each “episode” is really more like a skit — think of a long commercial more than traditional episode — and takes a cute tone. The two characters are a young couple who are part of a club that searches the skies for signs of alien life.

Seo Hyo-rim said of the successful launch, “I had no idea there would be so many people interested in this. I’ll try my best to work even harder and not disappoint.”

Episode 1: “Mi-ju” (Seo Hyo-rim) asks for a kiss from her boyfriend “Ho-shik” (Kim Kyu-jong), which he’s a little embarrassed about at first.

Episode 2: Mi-ju and Ho-shik look up at the stars, but Mi-ju can’t see any. Ho-shik instructs her how to see better and gives her some scientific facts, which annoys her.

[NEWS]FT Island, Isolated In Philippines Due To Storm, Communication Cut Off!

Idol band, FT Island, was isolated in the Philippines due to a storm.

FT Island left for Cebu, Philippines on 25th September for the filming of their new music video. On their way there, they met with a massive storm and were isolated in a critical situation.

On the following day after FT Island arrived in the Philippines, storm “Ketsana” slammed the Philippines and it was reported that as on 27th September, 72 people had either gone missing or dead and recorded a total of 250,000 victims. It was said to be the worst storm to hit the country in 40 years.

FT Island’s management company, F&C Music, tried contacting FT Island and their staff who are in Philippines to check on their safety but their local lines were unreachable.

The storm caused communication system to be cut off. Their management company got worried and impatient for the past two days trying to get in touch with them. Luckily, both sides managed to get in contact with each other late on 27th. Upon knowing that they are safe, their management heaved a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, it was also known that the area where FT Island is staying is not greatly affected by the storm.

Schedule for the filming of their music video was slightly delayed. They had plans for filming on aircrafts but it was aborted. It was originally planned to be a 4 days 3 nights filming but they had to rush the filming within 2 days through the night due to the storm. They plan to return on 28th after the filming.

On the other hand, FT Island’s vocal Lee Hongki is filming for SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful“.

[news]FT Island’s Lee HongKi, ‘Singers Who Act’, Is There A Problem?

“Why do people think badly of singers going into acting?”
This question came from a 20-year-old young man.
FT Island’s vocal Lee Hongki is acting once again, after a period of 5 years.
He introduces himself as Jeremy, a British-Korean from a royal family, in the upcoming SBS drama “You’re Beautiful“.

In fact, Lee Hongki does not start out his acting path from an idol group. He is a singer who is making a comeback in his drama activies since 5 years ago.

He debuted in KBS 2TV children drama “Magic Kid Masuri” in 2002 and also acted in EBS “There’s Light Left At The Tip Of My Fingernails” in 2004, “Kkangsooni” in 2005 and thereafter from 2007 onwards, he participated in FT Island’s activities.

“SS501’s Kim Hyunjoong, DBSK’s Uknow Yunho, Big Bang’s TOP and other idol group singers are acting and singing at the same time, isn’t it?

But many people think little of it and are giving comments like, ‘So the idols are acting now’, ‘Why are they diverting their paths?’.
I don’t understand why it is positive that actors turn into singers and negative when it’s the other way round.”

Lee Hongki thinks that the mindset should be changed.

“Though fans already know that I started out as a child actor, others who did not know about it, hold a biased view against me. I want to change their mindset with my acting.”

Lee Hongki also sees fellow singer, Lim Changjung, as his role model.

“For the same situation, people do not hold biased views against Lim Changjung-sunbae. He receives recognition as a singer and also receives applause with his strong acting skills. I want to be like him, an all-rounder.”

The drama “You’re Beautiful“, which talks about the lives of an idol band and the love between the members, has a lot of similarities with the band, FT Island, which Lee Hongki is actually in.

“Our director also told me, ‘Lee Hongki, just be yourself’. So the character Jeremy portrays 70% of myself.
Also, in reality, I’m a vocalist. But in the drama, I’m a drummer. That’s the only difference. I learned the basics of playing the drum from our member, Minhwan.”

Lee Hongki also revealed that there are many similarities and he feels less burdened, “People around me are worried because I’m returning to acting once again. As I have only showed my acting skills as a child actor so far, I want to make a change this time round, so I’m feeling the burden as well. Nevertheless, I won’t try to change my image all at once but by doing it step-by-step. It’s never too late. That’s what I think.”

There are also many people who gave Lee Hongki their opinions. Besides his fans, his mother also gave views on Lee Hongki.

“When I was still a child actor, my mother even took on the role of being my manager. Everything was managed well by her.

After recordings, she would look at the monitor and say things like, “You have to change this. It will turn out to be like that, so listen to me”.

She comments on all these things and at the same time, giving me support.
This time round, she’s behind me as well.”

[news] FT Island’s Hong-ki ready to return to acting

Lee Hong-ki is mostly famous for being a member of the popular pop/rock band FT Island, but he’s looking forward to returning to acting, which he’ll do in SBS’s trendy idol-star drama You’re Beautiful [미남이시네요], his first drama gig in five years. (He has made cameo appearances on dramas and sitcoms, but his last drama role was in MBC’s 2004 series Freezing Point.)

Lee says that partly due to his membership in an idol group, he felt comfortable approaching his role as an upbeat character of an idol group: “The director, Hong Sung-chan, told me to just be as I usually am and to use the way we normally talk in our dialogue, so I didn’t feel a lot of pressure.”

The idol group within the drama is called A.N.JELL (which makes me cringe a little, but I suppose it’s not any worse than real band names like 2NE1). Lee Hong-ki’s character is named “Jeremy” and is a gyopo (Korean living abroad) from England. His father is an upper-class Englishman while his mother was once a famous model, and he grew up well-off.

Lee says his fellow FT Island bandmates are cheering him on, and are looking at his role with particular interest because they also have an interest in acting. He described the pull he feels to both being a singer and actor: “When I am performing as a singer, I feel a thrill standing onstage, and as I act, I feel affection for the television screen.”

[news] Lee Hongki, Plays Double Role At “You’re Beautiful” Mini Concert

FT Island’s Lee Hongki will play double role at “You’re Beautiful” mini concert.

SBS drama “You’re Beautiful” will take over the airing slot of “Swallow The Sun“, starting 7th October. Prior to the airing of this drama, a mini concert will also be held at Melon-Ax Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul at 5pm on 20th September. Lee Hongki will put up performances with two different bands on stage. This mini concert will be included in the drama as part of the scenes of A.N.JELL’s concert. In order to make the scenes look realistic, about 1,000 fans were invited through a special event. Comparisons of vocal abilities between Lee Hongki and Jang Geunsuk are expected.

[NEWS] Lee Hongki, As British-Korean “Jeremy”

FT Island’s Lee Hongki will play the role of “Jeremy“, a British-Korean, in his comeback drama.

Lee Hongki revealed that he received support from his fellow FT Island members for the upcoming SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful“. In this drama, Lee Hongki will play the role of “Jeremy“, a British-Korean member of the band “A.N.JELL“, whose father is from an English royal family and mother, a famous model. He was well-brought up in the family and also helps to generate the harmonious bonding within the band.

As a member of the popular group FT Island, Lee Hongki revealed that, “In reality, there’s a group which I’m currently active in and I feel comfortable acting as an idol with a bright character. Director, Hong Sungchang, also told me to be like my usual self. He also said to use our usual conversations as part of the dialogues, so I feel less burdened.”

He also said that, “Other FT Island members also gave me support by saying ‘Do well in your drama’ and showed much interest. Not only myself, other members also have passion in acting and are also interested in my role in this drama.”

Lee Hongki, who was also casted in MBC “Freezing Point” in 2004, revealed his thoughts about being a singer and an actor, “When I’m singing on stage, I feel the excitement and thrill. When I’m acting, I develop feelings through the TV.

Actress Choi Ran, who acted as Lee Hongki’s mother previously in “Freezing Point“, will get to work with him once again. This time, she will play the role of “Go Minam” & “Go Minyuh“’s aunt.

The new SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful” talks about the growth of a teenage band and the love between the members. It will start airing on 7th October at 9.55pm, taking over the slot of “Swallow The Sun“. Cast includes Jang Geunsuk, Park Shinhye, Lee Hongki, Jung Yonghwa, Uee, Jung Chan, Kim Sungryung, Kim Inkwon, Choi Su-eun, Bae Geurin and others.

[news] Online Charts for September 6 – 15

For all you Excel experts and point takers, here are the overall online sale rankings for the third week in September.

And proving that it is a “trope as old as dirt” (tm tvtropes.com) controversy has led to overwhelming success. Yesasia and Hanteo have reported that 2pm’s ‘Time For Change’ and ‘Hottest Time of Day’ are on their top ten selling album of the week. So, a small comfort for them, I hope. G-Dragon’s leading on most lists as usual, but Sandara Park’s song, “Kiss” has been doing well, also. I’m still still waiting for Bom’s single, thank you very much.

[news] FT Island’s Lee Hongki, Cross-Generation Friendship With Choi Ran

FT Island’s Lee Hongki displays his unusual friendship with actress, Choi Ran.

Lee Hongki is making his drama comeback after a period of 5 years, in the SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful“, which will start airing on 7th October. Lee Hongki said that, he has a cross-generation friendship with actress, Choi Ran, who is playing the role of his mother in the upcoming drama.

After filming the drama “Freezing Point” in 2004, Lee Hongki became a singer. It has been 5 years till now. Choi Ran acted as his mother in “Freezing Point” and they are coming together again to work for the new drama. They have also been keeping in touch with each other all this while.

In actual fact, Lee Hongki who’s born in 1990 and Choi Ran who’s born in 1960 have an age gap of 30 years. If the period of 30 years is considered as a generation, then the friendship between the both of them is a “cross-generation” one.

Lee Hongki, who was still in middle school during the filming of “Freezing Point“, often calls Choi Ran as mother and regards her as one too. Choi Ran also treats Lee Hongki warm-heartedly like a son.

“I was very happy to see her again,” Lee Hongki expressed, “Though it’s a pity that we do not have any scenes together in the earlier part of the drama, she still calls to give me encouragement.”

The new SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful” talks about the growth of a teenage band and the love between the members, with Lee Hongki playing the role of “Jeremy“. “You’re Beautiful” will start airing on 7th October, taking over the slot of “Swallow The Sun“.
