The most wanted celebrities by advertisers for the first half of 2009 have just been revealed. The results are according to a recent survey by the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.

The top female celebrity was Korean figure skating champion and 2010 Olympic Gold Medal contender Kim Yu Na. Yu Na has been the Nation’s sweetheart ever since winning the World Championship in record setting style. Other top female celebrities included Kim Tae Hee, Jeon Ji Hyun, Lee Hyori, Kim Nam Joo, Han Ga In, and Lee Young Ae.

The top male celebrity is a surprise, it’s Speedy Scandal’s Cha Tae Hyun. Oppa, say what? Although Tae Hyun is hilarious and a great actor, I can’t believe he beat out top competitors like Rain, Jang Dong Gun, Park Ji Sung, Lee Min Ho, and Lee Seung Gi.
So what do you think? Would you give up your hard earned cash for something that Yu Na or Tae Hyun sold you? Or are advertisers chasing after the wrong celebrities?

On the 9th, Leessang’s Gil gave an interview for tvN’s ‘ENEWS Weekly’ on Kim Jin Pyo’s Star Interview, ‘JP N Star.’ The rapper told the story of how Lee Hyori came to star in his group’s music video along with Ryu Seung Bum. He said there had been much deliberation about who to cast for that particular role and at some wee hour of the morning, he decided to personally call Hyori and ask her take the role. She reportedly hesitated at first, but when she heard the song she agreed to take part immediately.

Who else thinks this sounds fishy? Why didn’t he ask his girlfriend, Park Jung Ah, to participate in this?

But apparently, there was reason behind this late-night madness. Gil said that he couldn’t ask his current girlfriend to be the lead in a music video where the lyrics were about lovers who, after being together for so long, could not bear to either see each other or to separate. It was not a role that he thinks she could have taken, given their happily smitten disposition, I suppose.

As a side note, Gil also said in the interview that, “Meeting Yoo Jae Suk changed my life’s path.” Gil has been making leaps and bounds in the variety show front and in the entertainment world in general and he thanks Yoo Jae Suk for changing his perspectives on things. And by the popular MC’s advice, he humbly stated that he feels like he is responsible for the discomfort and fatigue of an entire cast and crew whenever he makes a mistake or says something he shouldn’t, so he is always careful now.

Awww, just another reason to love MC Yoo! But Gil and Hyori don’t actually have anything going on, it was just a business love call and she jumped to it like the good friend she is.

Lee Hyori provided many stage outfits and auctioned them in her fan’s cafe, which caused a whirlwind of activity. Hyori’s auction consists of 20 outfits from “10 Minutes,” “Get Ya,” “U-Go-Girl,” and “Hey Mr. Big.” All were worn by Hyori herself. The ensembles include jackets, t-shirts, pajamas, etc.

An outfit that captured fans’ attention was the unconventional training outfit for the Anymotion MV.

When Hyori was interviewed, she said, “I received this gift previously, but because it was unconventional, I never wore it. Once I wore it in the MV, it became a hot topic.”

Lee Hyori was faced with a little embarrassment after dancing to idol girlgroup KARA’s butt dance.

This was featured in the latest episode of ‘Family Outing’ aired on 4th October, where Hyori together with the other Family members and special guests Cha TaeHyun and Jang Hyuk had visited the mountain sky line ride in KyeongSangBook Island.

Hyori had wanted to entertain the others while they made their way to take the ride by dancing to KARA’s song ‘Mister’ doing the butt dance. But Yoo JaeSeok had said putting her in embarrassment, “It will be great if KARA was here”.

The 2 then persuaded member Kim Jong Kook to dance to the dance as well. Also on this episode, guest appearance Jang Hyuk threw his actor image away by dancing to Brown Eyed Girls ‘Abracadabra’ dance with Lee Hyori on the show.

All I can say is Ryu Seung Bum must’ve done a lot of good to deserve the company of so many beautiful ladies. Always looking slightly eccentric with real-life partner Kong Hyo Jin, he now shares screen time with the lovely Lee Hyori for a LeeSsang MV.
LeeSsang is due to release his 6th album “헥사고날 (Hexagonal)” on October 6 and a teaser for his title song’s MV has been unveiled.

As usual, the camera adores a smokin’ Hyori who plays Ryu Seung Bum’s girlfriend in the video for “헤어지지 못하는 여자, 떠나가지 못하는 남자 (Man Who Can’t Break Up)”. The MV, which happens to be directed by Ryu’s older brother, Ryu Seung Wan, showcases some befitting imagery that also gives a nice accent to the main cast. Music’s good and I think the title already speaks for itself. Check it out.

On the 27 Sept 'Family Outing', guest artist SS501 leader Kim Hyun Joong revealed his extraordinary 'Hyori love'. Kim Hyun Joong received much attention from the audiences with his confession of being the passionate fan of popular star Lee Hyori since she debut.

During the broadcast, Kim Hyun Joong performed Fin.K.L.'s 'To my boyfriend' together with Lee Hyori. Kim Hyun Joong disclosed: "When Fin.K.L bread was released, I was almost gone insane when I could not get the Lee Hyori sticker." Regarding this, Lee Hyori jokingly said: "Since you so like noona, why don't you go after me?". Kim Hyun Joong replied: "Until now (towards noona) also have the feeling of being together with star" and showed his excitement.

After this, when the performance in MKMF became another topic, Kim Hyun Joong showed his panic expression. Lee Hyori said: "During 2008, when performing the kiss with Big Bang member TOP in Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF), it became a hot topic in the internet."

Regarding this Kim Hyun Joong vented: "I hated that scene very much, I even threw the remote control while watching the TV." His frank speech made the others participants to convulse with laughters. Upon hearing this, Lee Hyori looked conceited and said: "Oh, so actually I have such existence." and laugh happily.

In addition, during the broadcast of 'Family Outing', a fervent competition ignited between two of the charming idol stars. Participated as guest artists, Kim Hyun Joong and Sheungri who replaced DaeSung used their different charms to attract the audiences.

Lee Hyori’s fourth album will be a “Gift of Variety.”

For her fourth album, which is dropping in October, Hyori has been recording songs coming from more than one composer and plans to make this one as varied as possible.

A representative from Mnet Media, Hyori’s management company, said, “Hyori wanted to make an album that is as colorful as possible so she didn’t rely on one composer. Each of her songs in the album has a different composer.”

Hyori has already gathered enough songs to make a whole album; she is only making small final changes to amplify her album’s freshest image.

The representative also said, “Not only experienced but new composers are sending her songs for her fourth album.”

Last year, with her third album’s “U-Go-Girl,” Hyori lives up to her reputation as the nation’s diva. With her prior accomplishments, Hyori wants to gather songs exemplifying her standards and status in the music industry. “We want to find more songs that is a little different from Hyori’s usual style. Listeners should expect a new trend.”

In other news, Hyori’s contract with Mnet Media expires in November, so her album will most likely drop before then.

However, Hyori also expressed, “Even though we plan on releasing the album before November, I don’t want to release it if it doesn’t hold up to my own standards in quality” and “until the album is out, please wait patiently.”

Thanks to lollipopzfrvr for the tips.

Lee Hyori's 4th album is just around the corner with an estimated released date set for sometime in October... if all goes according to plan.

The album is supposed to be extremely unique and have lots of different styles, as various composers are to create a different album, which will all be bundled as a special gift set.

Mnet Entertainment stated:

"We wanted to show Lee Hyori's various colors, therefore instead of choosing one composer, who chose many, who will each create their own separate album. Lee Hyori wants to bring something extremely new to the stage, and set a new trend with the release of her 4th album."

Although they are pushing for an October release, because Lee Hyori wants this album to be perfect, if she is not completely satisfied, they will hold back the release until she is completely satisfied.

Sex Appeal Icon Lee Rejects W2 Bil. Offer

Lee Hyo-ri, the 30-year-old sex icon, will be free from an exclusive contract with her current management agency, Mnet Media, from December, leaving both the broadcast and entertainment circles to pay special attention to her next agency-contract move.

However, Lee has decided to get reunited with Kil Jong-hwa, who was the manager of the defunct four female singer group Fin.K.L that Lee belonged to, online entertainment news Newsen.com said Friday.

Kil has recently set up a management agency to promote Lee’s activities. Their projected reunion has spread since last summer. But the two sides have not disclosed the plan as Lee has to release one more album under the contract with Mnet Media.

Lee is preparing her fourth solo album, whose release date has not yet been determined amid speculation that it will hit the market in October or November.

As a result, this will be the final album to be released under the management of Mnet Media. Currently, Lee appears in Family Outing, “the first division of Sunday Is Good,” the entertainment program of SBS TV.

It was reported that Lee had been offered some 2 billion won for the management contract from several entertainment agencies, but she rejected the offers and chose instead to be reunited with Kil.

Sources: The Korea Times, INMAR2R

In reference W2 billion is about $1.7 million.

Sexy Queen Lee Hyori is currently under Mnet Media but looks like her contract with them will be ending this upcoming November.

Hearing this news, many entertainment companies have been busy trying to get their hands on Miss Hyori but they're out of luck. Many have already been speculating this before but Lee Hyori will be signed under Gil Entertainment after her contract with Mnet Media ends. This is a very good choice for Hyori because the head of Gil Entertainment was her previous manager Gil Jonghwa, who was Fink.L's manager back at DSP Entertainment.

Because Lee Hyori's contract with Mnet Media is soon coming to an end, Lee Hyori is currently busy recording her next album so she'll be back just in time to promote her new album and end the contract without any troubles.

The Family Outing episode you all have been waiting for has arrived ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who haven’t keeping up with the show, Big Bang’s Daesung recently got into a car accident and while he heals, the group’s maknae, Seungri has taken his place. So in the first clip, the cast goes all giddy when he jumps out of the car, decked out in a suit and all and though he’s kind of the special guest on the show, he gets completely overshadowed when the next van pulls up with pretty boy Hyun Joong in it. Poor Seungri. Lots of eye candy on this episode, but the only man I’m keeping my eyes on are Kim Jong Gook.

….So far. In what was a very official public survey, the “Entertainer Popularity Survey,” the results were determined by the Leespiar Research Institute polling 1,320 males and females between the ages of 13~65 in 5 cities from around South Korea (metropolitan area, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon).

There are no real surprises on the list other than some of those making the list being solo artists, but I’m not complaining about that.

SNSD took the first place (31.8%) in the female category in the survey. This observation from the original article made be chuckle a bit: ”overwhelmingly through their new song “Tell Me Your Wish” amidst the rise and battle of the girl groups and the girl group wave while Wonder Girls haven’t had any activities in Korea due to their activities in the U.S.” Have we ever seen SNSD and Wonder Girls go head-to-head?

2. 2NE1 (15.8%) – due to the success of a continuous hit song parade (and some smart marketing decisions; 2NE1TV earned them a lot of goodwill)

3. Lee Hyori (15. 3%) Kind of surprised, but not. Lee Hyori’s just got that appeal where she’ll always appear on lists like this.

4. Wonder Girls I don’t know why they weren’t given a percentage, but still, I’m pretty impressed, considering they’ve been overseas the entire time. In my coming out at as a full-fledged Brown Eyed Girls stan, I have come to the horrible realization that I, too have an admiration for the Wonder Girls that borders on irrational. But they do make those dresses look good, you can’t lie.

5. Son Dam Bi (10.2%). I’ve often been perplexed by her popularity, but on a shallow note, she is pretty.

Now for the guys…

Big Bang is number one at 23.5%, barely beating out 2PM. Also impressive as they’ve been concentrating on promotions in Japan, but I wouldn’t be surprised if G-Dragon visibility lended some influence.

2. 2PM (21.7%) Our lovely boys of 2PM, very close at number 2. Enough has been said about their current situation better than I could at the moment, but let’s hope they can maintain that popularity.

3. Rain (16.9%) That’s right bishes! To all the naysayers that said he was washed up, not relevant, Rain is still integral part of the music scene, and I’m not the only one the thinks so! Though honestly, I don’t care if he decides to retire and go into thermonucleardynamics, as long as I get to see those abs.

4. Lee Seung Gi (10.4%) Ok, he’s talented. And cute, cute is always a plus.

5. DBSK (5.2%) And our lovely Gods from the East bringing up the rear. This was supposed a non-netizen influenced survey, or else they would be top two easy. Plus, being in Japan for so long, andstill being on the list – nothing to sneeze it.
Supposedly the data was gathered through a one on one interviews without giving examples for groups and and the subjects were given a choice of up to two names. To get technical: “The results were calculated based on the average number of responses and with a confidence interval of 95%, the margin of error is +-2.70%.”

I’ve heard rumblings of discord that Super Junior are nowhere to be found, but it’s a list, which means people are going to disagree with the rankings anyway. Do you agree with the list? Disagree? How would you rank the idols so far?

cr:Joy News + Translated and Edited by Xeth and Soy@soshified.com/forums + shared by kpoprants@wp

No, she’s not on Big Bang’s tallest member so put your weapons away fangirls and get your minds out of that smelly gutter. Another set of the Fall/Winter line for Topgirl has just been released and Hyori adds another fortification to her sexy queen title. I like these outfits because they’re something you can wear during the day and transition it for the night out if you don’t have time to stop by the house to change. For an “it” girl like Hyori, looking ready to rock it anytime, anywhere is a must. Looks like that faux fur stole made a reappearance from the first set. The girl is looking (as Tony the Tiger would put it) grrrrreat!
